Fundraising at DGS Mencap
The fundraising at DGS Mencap plays
a vital role in supporting many of the services
and projects run by DGS Mencap.
Funding raised through fundraising fills the missing gap that
statutory agencies can not fund. It is vital that our fundraising
department exists as it enables many new and old projects to
develop. By maintaining fundraising at DGS Mencap we support
people with learning disabilities aiding their integration into
wider society.
There are many different areas within the fundraising department
which include:
Community fundraising
Community fundraising involves receiving support from local
organisations and clubs ranging from local Lions groups to Women’s
Institutes. Support may come in the form of a donation,
sponsorship or external
fundraising event organised by the local group as well as
attendance at DGS Mencap fundraising events.
Community fundraising also includes individual
sponsorship events like running the marathon or jumping
out of an aeroplane! Click here if you are interested in supporting
DGS Mencap through through any of the above ways.

DGS Mencap Dramarama group receive a
cheque for the Dramarama project from Tesco’s in Gravesend.
Corporate fundraising
Corporate fundraising involves receiving support from companies
in the form of donations, through
payroll giving, sponsorship,
staff team building events,
external fundraising events
and gifts in kind. There are many
benefits to companies supporting charities including meeting
their corporate social responsibility and maintaining a sense
of satisfaction for staff members. Click

Trust fundraising
Trust fundraising refers to the process of asking for support
from Trusts and Foundations that are empowered to make grants
for charitable purposes. Successful applications have enabled
DGS Mencap to develop many of our projects
including the Peppercorns project, Dramarama, Music, Steppingstone
and many more! We would like to thank all of the Trusts and
grant giving organisations that have supported DGS Mencap.
Will and Legacy giving
DGS Mencap offers advice and support on all types of will and
legacy giving particularly for those who are concerned about
what will happen to their loved one who has a learning disability

support of people with learning disabilities. For those that
do we can offer a discount if individuals make their will with
