External fundraising Events

Would your company or local organisation like to organise a fundraising event on behalf of DGS Mencap? Past events organised on behalf of DGS Mencap have included a casino night, race night and five-a-side fundraising football event. In return the DGS Mencap fundraising department will provide full support and administration for your event. Alternatively if you have an fundraising event idea that you would like to DGS Mencap to organise then please contact the fundraising department on 01322 281833 or by email. The Treasure Hunt was an innovative idea of one of our volunteers and has been a huge success. Who knows, your event idea may be extremely successful and raise vital funds for DGS Mencap.

Gifts in Kind

DGS Mencap requires many gifts in kind that can be used as prizes for raffle and auctions held at fundraising events organised by DGS Mencap. Skydiving!

Have you always fancied running the London Marathon? Would you like to jump out of an aeroplane or spend the weekend camping overnight in spooky woods? Whatever your challenge why not raise money for DGS Mencap whilst doing so? We can organise everything for you from booking your sponsorship event, giving sponsorship forms and even cheering you on at the event. Make a donation

DGS Mencap relies on donations to support many of the activities we provide for people with learning disabilities. Donations can be made to certain projects or can be general donations for the running of the charity. If you or your company are interested in making a donation please send a cheque to DGS Mencap at 53 Highfield Road, Dartford, Kent DA1 2JS. Alternatively you can drop a cash donation into the office at 53 Highfield Road in Dartford (please do not send cash by post).

We also now have the facility to make a donation online through the Charity Choice website! Click onto www.charitychoice.co.uk to make an online donation. Make sure you select search for a charity and type in Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley Mencap to find us!

Don’t forget, if you are a UK taxpayer DGS Mencap can reclaim the basic rate of tax on donations from individuals. It doesn't matter how small or large your donation is Gift Aid can apply to one-off donations as well as sponsorship donations. On top of this, higher rate taxpayers are eligible to reclaim as much as 23p from the taxman for every £1 donated to charity, simply by including details of their Gift Aid donations on their Self Assessment form.

So for example, if you are donating £100.00, as a charity we are entitled to claim back a further £28.20 (22% income tax) meaning the total DGS Mencap would receive is £128.20 (40% would be claimed on individuals that pay a higher tax rate).

So if you are a UK tax payer please complete the Gift Aid Certificate and send with your donation. Remember, however small your donation – it can go a long way.

Payroll Giving

Payroll Giving (also known as "Give As You Earn") is an easy way for employees paid by PAYE to make a regular donation to DGS Mencap.
It is beneficial for DGS Mencap because it means donation are deducted before tax is calculated, making it an effective way of giving in a tax-efficient manner.
Payroll Giving is beneficial for companies because it companies meet their corporate social responsibility. It also means individuals can give to charity before they even receive their wages each month. Payroll giving gives an excellent PR opportunity for companies too! It’s really simple to set up a scheme and once your company has done it they can donate to more than one charity.

Your company, organisation or local club could become the name behind DGS Mencap or sponsor one of our many projects or fundraising events. In return we will ensure full PR coverage for your company or organisation. Staff team building events

Are your company looking for a team building event in the local community? There are many opportunities for team building events at DGS Mencap. This could involve helping to create a Sensory Garden to visiting and working with our service users in a day centre.
