DGS Mencap had been successfully providing residential care for people with learning disabilities for many years. In partnership with "In Touch" (a subsidiary of Hyde Housing Association),DGS Mencap manages 4 residential care homes. The focus of our residential service is to enable individuals to participate in their local community and develop skills, opportunities and choice.

Recently, DGS Mencap took over the running and management of 'The Haven'
(a residential home for 7 adults with learning disabilities) in Gillingham. The home was previously run by Medway Mencap.

The Company is in the process of reassessing all service users living in our residential homes to establish whether they are able to live in "Supported Living" accommodation. The philosophy of Supported Living is that people should be able to choose how they live, who they live with and who supports them. Our future aim is to provide more of such schemes catering for people with varying support needs. An individualised care package can be tailored according to the person’s needs.

We are also aiming to provide domiciliary service ("Building Bridges") to support people who live in their own homes in the very near future.

Benham Lodge

Lynden Way
