STEPPINGSTONE TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMME

 

The Steppingstone Training and Employment Programme will offer:
Programme 1: Life Skills/Essential Skills - Level 1
Programme 2: Life Skills/Essential Skills - Level 2
Programme 3: Work Preparation

 


Programmes 1 and 2
will run for a total of 24 weeks. Topics covered will include:

• Money Management
• Personal safety
• Self advocacy
• Relationships
• Understanding Differences
• Computer Skills
• Decision Making
• Safety in the Home
• Seeking Help and Advice

Programme 3 will run for a total of 24 weeks developing the work achieved in Programme 2 and focusing on:

• Confidence Building
• Identifying Skills and Abilities
• Barriers to Work
• Behaviour at Work
• CV Production
• Job Searching

Enrolment and Fees

The programme costs £32.15 per session

Sessions run from 10.30 a.m. – 3.30 p.m. on the following days:

Programme 1: Life Skills 1 - Tuesday
Programme 2: Life Skills 2 - Wednesday
Programme 3: Work Preparation - Thursday

Employment Opportunities

Students who are enrolled on or who complete a Steppingstone Programme will be eligible for vacant work experience positions at Peppercorns. Work experience lasts for up to six months. Employment opportunities include:

• Receptionists
• Clerical Assistants
• Database Operators
• Hairdressing Assistants
• Beauty Assistants
• Newsletter Editors

Following work experience, students will be able to apply for vacant positions at Peppercorns or be encouraged and supported to access employment in the community. Those not ready for paid employment will be supported to find alternative employment training.
